Excel is helpful in running a business because instead of doing spreadsheets by hand it will be easier to change anything if needed to on Excel.Changing a spreadsheet by hand will be difficult because it will take more time to calculate anything that needs to be changed.
Changing values can affect business decisions because for example changing the percentage of marketing lower the marketing expense will change lower and then the total of expenses will go lower also.

This article was posted on 11:15 pm on January 22,2010.A roadside bomb killed two U.S. service members in southern Afghanistan on Saturday as the country's top NATO commander acknowledged an increased risk to foreign troops will accompany an influx of reinforcements aimed at routing the Taliban.

The deaths brought to at least 22 the number of American service members killed so far this month -- compared with only 14 for the whole of January last year. A mild winter has brought no respite to the fighting, which traditionally drops off during the cold months.

The south is the Taliban heartland and is expected to be a major focus of fighting as the U.S. and NATO allies send 37,000 additional troops to turn the tide of the war.

To get the Gain/Loss you need to subtract the Current Value from the Initial Cost and will give the Gain/Loss.
To get the Percent of the Gain/Loss you have to take the Gain/Loss and subtract the Initial Cost from it.
